Certificate of Trust
A
certificate of trust is a form of affidavit that may be signed by the owner of the trust, the trustee, or an attorney who represents the owner or trustee. A certificate of trust is used to provide critical information about a trust (name of the trust, owner of the trust, date of trust, trustee, and powers of the trustee) without disclosing the entire document. Certificates of trust are provided to third parties who need this information to conduct a financial transaction concerning the trust.
